Overview

Black Metal atgeir is a black metal polearm that combines long reach with strong crowd control. It is built around thrusting attacks and is especially effective when fighting groups, since its secondary attack can stagger multiple enemies at once without suffering the usual multitarget damage penalty.

Its primary attack is a three-hit stab combo. The weapon has long reach, and the final hit deals 2x damage, making the full sequence more threatening than its opening strikes suggest. The secondary attack is a wide area sweep around the player with a three-meter range. Although it looks like a slash, it actually deals piercing damage and applies heavy stagger, enough to interrupt most creatures. This makes it one of the best atgeirs for controlling enemies at close range. The weapon also has a 3x sneak attack multiplier.

Black metal atgeir can be upgraded to quality 4. Its pierce damage rises from 105 at quality 1 to 123 at quality 4, while durability increases from 175 to 325. The weapon’s block power improves from 40 to 55, with a parry bonus of 2x. Its weight is 2.5, defensive value is 52–78, and movement speed penalty is -5%.

Crafting requires:

  • Quality 1: 10 Finewood, 30 Black metal, 5 Linen Thread
  • Quality 2: 15 Black metal, 5 Linen thread
  • Quality 3: 30 Black metal, 10 Linen thread
  • Quality 4: 45 Black metal, 15 Linen thread

Upgrading follows the same material pattern and also requires a forge of increasing level, starting at level 4 for the base weapon and rising to level 7 by quality 4. Repair requires forge level 4.

In practice, black metal atgeir rewards spacing and timing. The thrust combo is useful when you can keep enemies in front of you, while the spin attack is ideal when you are surrounded or when a pack of enemies closes in. Because the secondary attack can stagger most creatures, it is particularly effective for crowd control and for creating openings against aggressive enemies.

The weapon’s long reach makes it safer than many melee alternatives, especially in uneven terrain or narrow lanes where you can line up thrusts. Its secondary attack covers a full circle around the player, so it is valuable when ambushed or when multiple enemies try to flank you.
