Overview

Geirrhafa is an ice-themed dungeon creature that appears as a counterpart to the cultist. It is associated with frost-based attacks and a cursed nature, and it fights at both close and medium range with a mix of claw swipes and icy blasts.

In melee, Geirrhafa uses one or two claw swings in a wide horizontal arc. The single claw attack has a short cooldown and can be used when the player is very close, while the double-claw version deals heavier damage and has a longer cooldown. It can also unleash a frosty mist blast in a cone in front of it, and this attack cannot be blocked. At longer range, it can slam the ground to create three outward-pulsing shockwaves that deal frost damage; these waves cannot be dodged or blocked, so spacing and positioning matter when fighting it.

A key weakness in its behavior is that its frost beam can only be fired in a straight line, which makes sidestepping and attacking from the flank effective. The creature can be defeated with ordinary melee weapons, but Staff of Embers is especially effective. Fire arrows also appear to deal more damage than Needle arrows.

Practical tips for fighting Geirrhafa:

  • Stay alert for its close-range claw attacks, especially when you are within a few meters.
  • Move to the side when it uses its straight-line frost attack to avoid staying in its line of fire.
  • Be aware that its frosty mist cone cannot be blocked.
  • Its ground slam creates shockwaves that must be handled by positioning rather than blocking or dodging.
  • If you are using ranged weapons, Fire arrows are a better choice than Needle arrows.
  • If you have access to magic, Staff of Embers is particularly effective against it.

Geirrhafa’s design and combat style reinforce its role as an icy counterpart to the cultist, giving it a distinct identity among dungeon enemies.
