Boar

Overview
Boar is a tameable creature found in the

Wild boars are aggressive if approached too closely without sneaking. They typically follow a simple attack pattern of charging, striking, then retreating before trying again, which can make them easier to herd than they first appear. They fear fire and will avoid it when close to a
To tame a boar, approach it while sneaking and feed it by dropping food nearby without frightening it. Boars eat berries, mushrooms, carrots, and other farm crops, but they will not eat yellow mushrooms. They only consume food if they are not frightened, and their status changes from wild to tame as taming progresses. Keeping the player in the area is necessary for the process to continue, and a secure pen is important to prevent escapes or interruptions.
- Taming takes about 30 minutes of uninterrupted real time.
- A frightened boar stops taming progress and may require extra food.
- Boars can be fed by placing food stacks on the ground; they eat one piece at a time.
- A nearby
Workbench helps prevent dropped food from despawning.
- Tamed boars can be renamed with LShift + E, and interacting with them shows a “loves you” message with pink hearts.
Tamed boars can breed if they are happy and well-fed, with another boar within 3 meters and no more than five boars within 10 meters. After a short pregnancy, they give birth to a piglet, which takes 50 minutes to grow into an adult boar. Offspring are tamed at birth, cannot be interacted with until fully grown, and inherit star levels from the parent that gives birth. This makes boar pens a reliable source of steady meat and leather scraps once a breeding pair is established.
- Boars eat berries, mushrooms, carrots, turnips, onions, and red mushrooms when bred or kept tame.
- Breeding stops if the enclosure becomes too crowded.
- Two-star boars are especially valuable because their offspring can inherit rarity.
- Tamed boars still retain their aggressive behavior toward hostile creatures and will fight enemies such as Skeletons.
