Overview

Fallen Valkyrie is a large flying hostile creature that patrols high in the air. It is a damaged remnant of an ancient Valkyrie, its body scarred by fire and corruption, with broken armor, scorched wings, and a red glow where its eyes should be. In combat it relies on a small set of powerful aerial and melee attacks, and it will often hover before closing in on the player.

Its behavior is straightforward but dangerous: it can open by flying back slightly and then thrusting forward to fire three explosive projectiles. These shots leave circular fire fields on impact, each dealing Burning and Poison damage, so even a near miss can control a large area. When it gets close, it can slash with its talons in a vertical arc for heavy Slash and Pierce damage, or fold its wings and spin in place for a wide-area attack that deals Blunt and Pierce damage as well as Chop and Pickaxe damage. Because it tends to alternate between ranged pressure and close-range punishes, staying still is risky.

A few practical points make the fight easier:

  • Keep moving and avoid fighting directly under it when possible, since its attacks are strongest at close and mid range.
  • Ranged weapons work well, especially ice arrows if available.
  • Dodge rather than block when it commits to its slash or spin, as both attacks cover a large area.
  • Fire resistance is useful because its projectiles create burning zones.
  • Be careful around nearby enemies; its attacks can hit surrounding creatures, so a Valkyrie fight can pull in extra threats or be used to clear them if managed carefully.

Fallen Valkyrie is most noticeable from its silhouette or shadow while it is still airborne. Once engaged, it becomes a relentless aerial threat that can punish poor positioning, but its predictable attack cycle makes it manageable for players who keep their distance and watch for the moment it dives or begins to spin.
