Draugr Elite

Overview

In combat, Draugr elite behaves much like a normal draugr, but it is armed with a sword and deals more damage. It gives a roar before charging at its target, making its approach easy to recognize. Its sword attack is a horizontal slash that reaches about 2.2 meters and covers a 90-degree arc, dealing 58 slash damage. The attack has a 4-second cooldown and can be used when the player is within 1.6 meters.
Because it is a melee attacker, parrying its strike is one of the safest ways to fight it. A successful parry will stun it, creating a window to land several quick hits before it recovers. This makes shields and weapons with strong follow-up damage especially effective. When fighting Draugr elite in villages, the usual danger is not just the creature itself, but also the terrain: the buildings can be damaged and collapsed during the fight, and draugr archers may attack from range while you are focused on the elite.
A few practical points make these encounters easier:
- Taking high ground above the houses, such as a roof or a small tower, lets you use a bow to attack more safely.
- Draugr do not open doors, so you can clear enemies outside first and then attack mephitic remains from the outside.
- Area damage from
Stagbreaker can be used to hit the spawners through walls or weakened sections.
- Luring other hostile creatures, such as boars, Greydwarfs, or even trolls, into the village can distract the draugr temporarily and buy time to escape or destroy the spawners.
- Since the villages are in Meadows, they can provide entrails more safely than entering the
Swamp, though sausages still require a
Cauldron upgrade before they can be made early.
Draugr elite is essentially the heavily armed melee counterpart to ordinary draugr: slower to punish if you can control the fight, but dangerous if allowed to close in and chain attacks.
