Overview

Guck is a swamp material obtained from Gucksacks on trees or as loot from Abominations. Abominations typically drop around 4 Guck when defeated, while Gucksacks can be found in the Swamp by looking along tree trunks for the pale green sacs. Gucksacks can contain more than one drop, and their glow makes them easier to spot in the dark swamp canopy.

To harvest a Gucksack, players must use an axe or a pickaxe; ranged attacks do not damage them. Because many sacks are placed above ground level, it is often necessary to build a ladder, platform, or other elevated access point before collecting them.

Guck is mainly used as a crafting ingredient for a small set of swamp- and iron-age items:

It is also used as fuel for the Standing green-burning iron torch, making it useful both as a decorative material and as a power source for that light fixture.

The material is strongly associated with the Swamp biome and its hostile growths, so players usually gather it while raiding tree clusters or after clearing Abominations. Since Gucksacks are placed high on trees and cannot be shot down safely, the most efficient approach is to bring building materials and tools for quick access before starting to harvest.
