Overview

Silver is a refined metal resource used extensively in midgame Mountain-tier equipment and some later recipes. It is normally obtained by smelting Silver Ore in a Smelter, which takes 30 seconds per ingot. Silver is also listed as a possible find in the Ashlands from smoky holes, though its main progression role is tied to the Mountains.

Silver Ore veins are usually located with a Wishbone, though veins can occasionally spawn exposed on the surface. Stagbreaker can also help locate buried deposits: if a ground slam produces the message “Too Hard” and there are no nearby rocks, silver is likely buried below. Like other metals, Silver cannot be transported through a Portal. If a vein is fully excavated and left floating, destroying any one connected piece will destroy the entire node.

Silver is used for crafting a wide range of equipment, especially Mountain gear. Recipes and upgrades that consume Silver include:

The total Silver cost is significant across an equipment tier. Crafting one of each base Mountain equipment item requires 214 Silver, with a further 516 Silver needed to fully upgrade them, for a total of 730 Silver. Across all biome tiers, one of each base equipment item costs 222 Silver, with 521 Silver more required for full upgrades, totaling 743 Silver.

Silver is also used in building-related recipes such as the Butcher's table and in some miscellaneous crafting recipes. Its main gameplay role is to bridge the progression from early mountain exploration into the stronger armor, weapons, and utility items that define the next stage of advancement.
