Copper Ore

Unrefined copper. Needs to be refined in a smelter.
Overview

Copper ore is mined with any pickaxe, though better tools speed up the process. When the surface layer is exhausted, digging around and under the deposit often reveals much more ore. Mining the deposit also yields stone, and fully excavating it can produce a substantial amount of both materials. Some players also dig away the earth around the deposit until it collapses into copper ore fragments; this method is effective, but its efficiency compared with normal mining is not clearly established.
Copper ore can be processed in a

- Copper ore cannot be teleported and must be transported manually or by cart.
- Each unit weighs 10.
- Bringing a cart helps greatly when extracting larger deposits.
Troll attacks deal heavy damage to copper deposits and can break off ore pieces, making trolls a useful alternative mining method when you want to save pickaxe durability or simply collect ore faster.
- Because deposits can extend deep below the surface, the most efficient way to clear one is often to mine around it and dig downward until no more connected ore remains.
- Mining copper also provides a fair amount of stone, which can be useful as a side benefit during excavation.
Copper ore is a key gateway resource: it enables the production of copper equipment and upgrades, and after smelting it becomes the basis for Bronze, which unlocks more advanced tools, weapons, armor, and crafting progress.
