Overview

Black Metal scrap is a late-game metal scrap found in the Plains and used to produce black metal. It is primarily dropped by fulings and their stronger variants, and it can also be found in chests inside Fuling settlements. Unlike ore, it does not appear in veins or deposits, making it the only metal resource in Valheim that is not mined from the ground.

The scrap is most commonly acquired by killing fulings, Fuling shamans, and Fuling berserkers. Fuling shamans do not have stars, while fulings and berserkers can appear with star levels, which increases the amount of scrap they drop. In addition to enemy drops, loot containers in Fuling villages are a reliable secondary source. This makes Plains raids and settlement clearing the main ways to stockpile the material.

Black metal scrap cannot be processed in a Smelter. To refine it, you must use a Blast Furnace, which converts the scrap into black metal. Because of this, black metal scrap is part of the progression into endgame equipment rather than an intermediate material for early metallurgy.

  • Drops from fulings, Fuling shamans, and Fuling berserkers.
  • Also found in chests in Fuling settlements.
  • Star levels on fulings and berserkers increase the amount dropped.
  • It does not come from ore veins or other deposits.
  • It must be smelted in a Blast Furnace, not a Smelter.
  • The refined product is black metal.
