Official description

Godflesh, wood from the Great Tree.

Overview

Yggdrasil wood is a Mistlands resource gathered from Yggdrasil shoots, the pale growths found in that biome. It is one of the distinctive late-game building and crafting materials introduced alongside the Mistlands progression, and it is required for a wide range of Dvergr-style constructions, magical stations, and other advanced structures.

Yggdrasil wood is harvested by chopping Yggdrasil shoots with a Black Metal Axe or better. It can also be obtained in small amounts by destroying certain structures in the Mistlands. Like other wood materials, it is a basic building resource once collected, but unlike normal wood it is tied to the biome’s advanced infrastructure and cannot be substituted by earlier-game materials.

It is used in many Mistlands recipes, including:

It is also used in several high-tier equipment and weapon crafting recipes, including the Black Forge and Galdr table recipe lines that unlock Mistlands progression, as well as items such as Jotun Bane, Carapace Spear, Himminafl, Demolisher, Staff of Embers, Staff of Frost, and the Staff of Protection.

A few practical points make Yggdrasil wood easy to manage:

  • Bring a strong axe before entering the Mistlands, since the resource requires at least Black metal-tier harvesting.
  • Collect extra when you can; many Mistlands stations consume it in large quantities.
  • Keep some on hand for utility pieces like the Sap extractor and Wisp torch, since these support further Mistlands advancement.
  • Yggdrasil wood cannot be burned in a Charcoal Kiln.
