Iron Nails

Iron nails are a crafting material made at the forge from iron. Smelting or refining iron is not enough on its own; once you have an iron bar, it can be turned into a stack of 10 iron nails for use in building and crafting.

Their main role is as a mid- to late-game construction component, especially for large ships and advanced furniture. Iron nails are also one of the first refined metal parts that players tend to stockpile, since several high-value recipes use them in meaningful quantities.

Iron nails are used in:

• Longship: 100 iron nails, 10 deer hide, 40 finewood, 40 ancient bark
• Drakkar: 100 iron nails, 30 ceramic plates, 50 finewood, 25 Yggdrasil Wood
• Raven throne: 10 iron nails, 20 finewood
• Armor stand: 4 iron nails, 8 finewood, 2 leather scraps
• Dragon Bed: 15 iron nails, 40 finewood, 7 deer hide, 4 wolf pelt, 10 feathers
• Spinning Wheel: 10 iron nails, 20 finewood, 5 leather scraps
• Mill: 30 iron nails, 20 stone, 30 wood
• Round table: 20 iron nails, 10 finewood, 2 tar
• Large heavy table: 20 iron nails, 20 finewood, 2 tar
• Dark wood chair: 5 iron nails, 4 finewood, 1 tar, 1 deer hide

Because many of these recipes also require materials from different biomes, iron nails are often a bottleneck when expanding into new tiers of progression. Longships and drakkars consume especially large amounts, so it is worth keeping a reserve if you plan to build multiple ships or decorate a large base with furniture from the plains and mountains tiers.

In practical terms, iron nails are best treated as a specialized metal component rather than a general-purpose item. If you are preparing for travel, shipbuilding, or upgraded base furnishing, it is efficient to process iron into nails as needed and keep a few stacks ready rather than waiting until the moment a recipe is unlocked.
