Overview

Ashwood is a building material found in the Ashlands. It is gathered by chopping burned trees with any axe, and it serves as a core crafting resource for many late-game Ashlands structures, furniture, and siege-related items.

In practice, Ashwood is one of the defining materials of the Ashlands construction set. It is required for a wide range of pieces, including Ashwood walls, floors, roof pieces, beams, posts, stairs, doors, benches, and decorative variants. It is also used in several craftable stations and tools, such as the stonecutter-like metalworking progression item, the gem cutter, and a number of Ashlands weapons and defenses. Because so many recipes depend on it, players exploring the Ashlands should plan to stockpile it early rather than harvesting only what is immediately needed.

Ashwood is also a component in several advanced siege and combat recipes. These include the ram, catapult, charred arrows and bolts, flametal missiles, and high-tier shields and weapons. It is additionally used in the Ashwood Bed, which combines Ashwood with Lox Pelt and Asksvin Hide.

  • Gather it by cutting down burned trees with any axe.
  • Ashwood cannot be placed in a Charcoal Kiln.
  • It is heavily used in Ashlands building pieces, especially the Charred construction set.
  • It is also part of multiple late-game crafting chains, including ammunition, siege equipment, and shields.
  • If you are building an Ashlands base, it is worth collecting Ashwood in large quantities before starting major construction.
