Overview

Sap is a renewable resource harvested from Ancient Roots in the Mistlands biome using a Sap Extractor. Ancient Roots are the pulsating magical structures that protrude from the ground in the Mistlands, and Sap is collected directly from them rather than mined or crafted. Each root replenishes Sap over time after it has been drained, so the resource can be gathered repeatedly from the same location.

Sap is also used as an ingredient in the Eitr Refinery, making it a key material for Mistlands progression. The refinery consumes Sap alongside other late-game resources to produce refined Eitr-based materials, so steady Sap collection is important once the Mistlands are reached.

Sap is gathered with a Sap extractor placed on an Ancient Root. The extractor can store up to 10 units of Sap at a time. After it fills, the extracted Sap begins to accumulate again, and once 50 units have been drained from a root, that root must regenerate before it can be harvested further. This means that while Sap is renewable, a single root has a limited output before it needs recovery time.

Sap is a major crafting ingredient for several Mistlands recipes, especially food and support items:

It is also used in construction and utility crafting:

Because many of these recipes are late-game foods, meads, and infrastructure pieces, Sap is one of the Mistlands resources that most directly supports both exploration and combat readiness. Players who intend to work in the biome for a long time benefit from setting up multiple roots for extraction so that production remains steady while individual roots regenerate.
