Overview

The Eitr refinery is a Mistlands-age crafting structure used to convert Sap and Soft tissue into Refined Eitr. It becomes available once the player has gathered the required materials for construction. To obtain those materials, a Black Metal Axe is needed for Yggdrasil Wood, a Sap Extractor is needed for Sap, the extractor requires a Dvergr Extractor from Dvergr component crates in Dvergr settlements, and Black cores must be collected from Infested Mines.

Eitr refineries can be built on flat ground or on stone floors, and they do not take rain damage. The refinery has a funnel at the front for Sap and a grinder at the top for Soft tissue. Up to 20 Sap can be loaded into the front input and up to 20 Soft tissue into the top grinder. The output Refined eitr is ejected from the tube beside the Sap input, opposite the grinder. The top can be climbed, but placing stairs nearby makes access easier.

Each Sap acts as fuel and adds 40 seconds of operating time. A full fuel tank gives 800 seconds of runtime. The conversion rate is effectively close to 1:1 between Sap and Soft tissue, with a full load of both inputs producing 20 Refined eitr. When both input slots are filled to maximum, the refinery consumes 20 Soft tissue and 19 Sap, leaving 1 Sap unused.

While operating, the structure emits small electrical discharges that deal Lightning and Poison damage over time. Refined eitr dropped on the ground also emits these discharges, so careless placement can damage nearby structures. Ordinary wood and stone structures are vulnerable, while iron and copper cage pieces and Black Marble floor, wall, and pillar pieces are resistant to the elemental damage. Because of this, the refinery is best placed in a controlled stone or metal workshop area rather than beside important wooden buildings.

A few practical points make it easier to use:

  • Keep the refinery on stone flooring or open flat ground to simplify placement and reduce accidental damage.
  • Use stairs or another climbing aid if you want quick access to the top grinder.
  • Collect Refined eitr promptly, since spilled material continues to shock nearby objects.
  • Build it with surrounding materials that can survive Lightning and Poison damage.

Like other Mistlands-tier structures and items, it can technically be obtained before building a Wisp Fountain, but moving through the area is much harder because of the dense mist.
