Overview

Fenris claw is a crafting material found in Frost Caves. It is part of the loot and structure set associated with the cultists there, and it can also be found in chests inside these caves. Because of that, it is tied to one of the main late-Black Forest / early-Mountains side activities: exploring Frost Caves for rare materials, trophies, and dungeon resources.

Its primary known use is in furniture crafting. Fenris claw is required for both the Standing Brazier and the Blue Standing Brazier, making it a building resource rather than an armor or weapon component. The recipes are:

  • Standing brazier: 5 Bronze, 2 Coal, 3 Fenris claw
  • Blue standing brazier: 5 Bronze, 5 Greydwarf Eye, 3 Fenris claw

This means Fenris claw is one of the materials that links Mountain-dungeon exploration to base decoration. Since both braziers also require Bronze, the item is most useful once the player has progressed far enough to comfortably travel to Frost Caves and maintain metal production.

When farming Fenris claw, the most efficient approach is to clear Frost Caves thoroughly rather than rushing the exit. The material can appear in shrine-like cultist structures and in chests, so checking every room increases the yield. If you are collecting it specifically for building, it is worth saving extra claws because both brazier recipes consume the same amount, and neither recipe substitutes another item.

In practice, Fenris claw is a modest but important dungeon drop: it is not needed in large quantities for a single build, but it serves as a unique gate on a distinctive set of decorative objects.
