Overview

Feathers are a common crafting resource used mainly in ammunition production and a few utility recipes. They are one of the earliest materials players are likely to collect in quantity, and they remain useful throughout progression because many arrow and bolt types require them. They are also part of the recipe for the Dragon Bed.

Feathers are obtained primarily from birds such as seagulls and crows, and also from hens, chickens, ash crows, and voltures. They can be found in chests in the Meadows and Black Forest, as well as in Burial Chambers. There is also a chance to get them when chopping down Beech, Birch, Fir, and other trees listed in source material, making forest clearing a reliable way to gather extra feathers while harvesting wood.

Their main use is in ranged weapon crafting. Feathers are required for many arrow and bolt recipes, including:

Feathers are also used in the Huntsman Bow recipe and in several building or special crafting recipes, including the Dragon bed, the Feather Cape, and the Eitr-weave Robe. Because so many arrow and bolt types consume them, feathers are often a bottleneck for players who rely on bows or crossbows, especially before more advanced farms and bird sources become available.

A few practical notes make feathers easier to stockpile. Chopping trees while traveling is a good passive source, since the drop chance adds up over time. Chests in early biomes can provide a useful starting supply, and repeated hunting of birds around open terrain can steadily replenish them. Since feathers are used across multiple crafting tiers, it is worth saving them rather than spending them on the first available ammunition type if better recipes are likely to be unlocked soon.
