A shard of crystal from deep within the earth.

Overview

Crystal is a crafting material obtained from mountain enemies and from deposits found in Frost Caves. It is primarily associated with the Mountain biome, where it drops from Stone Golems and Frost Blobs, and it can also be collected directly from crystal clusters inside the caves.

Crystal deposits in Frost Caves are pickable, but each pick yields only one Crystal. The deposits are also easy to break, and destroying them is usually more efficient because each destroyed cluster drops 1–3 Crystal instead. This makes cave runs a strong source if you need a large amount for building or crafting.

Crystal is used in a small number of high-tier recipes and construction pieces. Its main uses are:

Because Crystal comes from enemies and cave formations rather than from normal ore veins, it is often gathered opportunistically while exploring the Mountain biome. Stone Golems are one of the most reliable enemy sources, while Frost Caves provide both enemy drops and harvestable crystal clusters in the same location. This makes caves especially valuable for players who want both raw materials and progression-related loot at once.

When farming Crystal, it is efficient to clear Frost Caves thoroughly and break the deposits instead of only picking them. Since destroyed clusters can yield more than a single Crystal, the difference adds up quickly over a full cave. Stone Golems are another useful source, especially if you are already traveling through snowy mountain areas and encounter them naturally.

Crystal is one of the materials that ties mountain exploration to base building: it is not just a combat drop, but also a construction resource for decorative and functional late-game pieces.
