Overview

Crystal battleaxe is a heavy, unwieldy two-handed weapon meant for fighting groups of enemies. It combines wide, sweeping strikes with the ability to chop trees, making it a versatile but specialized weapon rather than a simple damage dealer. Its glow also makes the wielder slightly easier to spot while sneaking.

Its primary attack is a three-hit combo that can strike multiple targets without penalty. The first swing is very slow, but the last two attacks come out at about the same speed overall, and the final hit deals double damage and applies 1.5x stagger. The secondary attack is a fast forward lunge that deals 0.5x damage and staggers the target. A common attack opener is the secondary attack followed by the primary combo, which helps it flow more naturally than starting from the slow first swing.

Crystal battleaxe can be crafted at a Forge using 40 Ancient Bark, 30 Silver, and 10 Crystal at quality 1. Upgrades increase its durability and damage as follows:

  • Quality 1: 90 slash, 30 spirit, 50 chop, 200 durability
  • Quality 2: 96 slash, 30 spirit, 52.5 chop, 250 durability
  • Quality 3: 102 slash, 30 spirit, 55 chop, 300 durability
  • Quality 4: 108 slash, 30 spirit, 57.5 chop, 350 durability

As a weapon, it sits in the axe category and is built around broad area control. Its multiple-target swings make it effective against groups, especially when enemies are clustered together, while the spirit damage gives it an additional damage type beyond physical slashing. The axe’s tree-chopping ability also means it can be used in a pinch for basic logging, though it is primarily a combat weapon.

Because the first strike is so slow, timing matters. It is best used when enemies are committed to a push or are already grouped up, so the wide attacks can connect cleanly. The weapon’s heavy feel also means it rewards deliberate spacing and careful positioning more than rapid aggression.
