Berserkir Axes

The Berserkir axes are an Ashlands-tier paired weapon in Valheim, wielded as two axes rather than one. They are built around fast multi-hit attacks and heavy dual-axe strikes, making them a strong close-range option for players who want sustained pressure and burst damage in the same weapon.

Their main attack is a four-step combo: two single swings, one with each axe, followed by two double swings where both axes strike together. A full combo lands 6 hits in total, and the final double swing deals doubled damage with each axe. The secondary attack is a forward leap followed by a powerful simultaneous strike with both axes, and it also deals 2× damage. Like other axes, they can be used to chop trees, so they remain useful outside combat as well.

Berserkir axes can be upgraded through four quality levels. Their slash damage and durability scale as follows:

• Quality 1: 140 slash, 175 durability
• Quality 2: 145 slash, 225 durability
• Quality 3: 150 slash, 275 durability
• Quality 4: 155 slash, 325 durability

Crafting also changes by quality. The base weapon requires 15 Charred Bone, 24 Flametal, and 3 Asksvin Hide, with later upgrade levels costing progressively more Flametal and Asksvin hide.

Like most Ashlands-tier weapons, Berserkir axes can also be modified with gemstones into one of three upgraded variants: Bloodstone, Iolite, or Jade. Doing so resets the weapon’s previous upgrade level, and the gemstone modification cannot be changed afterward. This makes gemstone choice a permanent decision rather than a temporary enhancement.

In use, the weapon rewards committing to full attack strings rather than single swings. The combination of alternating single and double hits gives it good damage output against close targets, while the leaping secondary attack provides a strong opener or finisher. Because the weapon also functions as an axe, it can cover both combat and basic woodcutting needs in a single slot.
