Bronze Sword

The Bronze sword is the first sword-type weapon available in Valheim. It is a one-handed slashing weapon, making it a straightforward early-game option for players who want a balanced melee weapon with both fast basic attacks and a heavy thrust for burst damage.

Crafting it requires a Forge, and the recipe is unlocked once all required materials are in your inventory. The base weapon is made with 8 Bronze, 2 Leather Scraps, and 2 Wood. Upgrading uses the same material pattern as other early metal weapons and raises its damage and durability with each quality level:

• Quality 1: 35 slash, 200 durability
• Quality 2: 41 slash, 250 durability
• Quality 3: 47 slash, 300 durability
• Quality 4: 53 slash, 350 durability

The Bronze sword’s primary attack is a three-hit combo. The third strike deals double damage, so finishing the chain is important for getting the most out of it. Its alternate attack is a slower forward stab with triple damage, making it useful for punishing openings or opening a fight with a strong hit. The weapon also has a stealth attack bonus of 3x.

In combat, the sword offers solid defensive utility for its tier. It has a weight of 0.8, a movement speed penalty of -5%, and moderate parry stats that scale with upgrades. Its base block and parry values improve as it is upgraded, with block strength reaching 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 across quality levels 1 through 4, and parry force listed at 12–18 with a 2x parry bonus.

The Bronze sword is a strong early upgrade for players leaving the first primitive weapons behind. Its quick combo, high damage on the third swing, and powerful alternate stab make it reliable against single targets, especially when you can control distance and time your attacks well.
