Primal Slayer

Primal Slayer is an enchanted version of the regular Slayer sword. It is crafted by enchanting an existing Slayer, and doing so resets any upgrades on the base weapon. In return, it gains additional poison damage and a chance to inflict a special effect on hit for 7 seconds.

Its melee profile emphasizes strong, sweeping cuts and reach. The primary attacks are fairly vertical and wide-reaching, while the third strike in the combo is narrower horizontally. The secondary attack is a long-reaching thrust that can outrange most enemies and deals very high damage.

Primal Slayer has four quality levels, with its slash damage and durability increasing as it is upgraded:

• Quality 1: 170 slash, 10 poison, 200 durability
• Quality 2: 176 slash, 10 poison, 250 durability
• Quality 3: 182 slash, 10 poison, 300 durability
• Quality 4: 188 slash, 10 poison, 350 durability

Crafting costs are:

• Quality 1: 1 Slayer, 12 Flametal, 1 Jade
• Quality 2: 15 Flametal, 1 Jade
• Quality 3: 30 Flametal, 2 Jade
• Quality 4: 45 Flametal, 3 Jade

Because the enchantment consumes the previous weapon and clears its upgrades, it is best to wait until you are satisfied with your Slayer before converting it. Its combination of high slash damage, bonus poison damage, and a powerful thrust makes it effective against enemies that can be controlled at melee range, especially when you can take advantage of the long secondary attack to engage safely from farther away.
