Official description

A knife from the deep.

Overview

Abyssal razor is a knife weapon that deals both pierce and slash damage. It is a light one-handed weapon with no movement penalty, low weight, and the usual knife playstyle of fast close-range attacks, high sneak damage, and strong burst from its alternate attack. It is the third knife-tier weapon, arriving after the early copper knife progression.

Its damage is on par with an iron-tier weapon, but it does not require any ore to craft. Instead, it is made from finewood, chitin, and leather scraps, making it a strong midgame upgrade for players who can obtain materials from the sea.

  • Crafting:
  • Upgrade resources total: 4 Finewood, 80 Chitin, 2 Leather scraps
  • Required forge levels: 2, 3, 4, 5
  • Repair level: 2 at all qualities

At quality 1, Abyssal razor has 20 pierce and 20 slash damage, increasing to 23 pierce and 23 slash at quality 4. Durability rises from 200 to 350, and its block power improves from 10 to 25 as it is upgraded. It also has a block force of 8–12, a parry bonus of 4x, and a sneak bonus of 6x.

The primary attack is a three-hit combo. The third strike deals double damage and adds knockback, making the full chain especially effective when you can land all hits safely. Each swing costs 8 stamina, and the attack has a short reach and wide enough arc for close-quarters fighting. The last hit in the combo also carries extra stagger potential, which helps against enemies that can be interrupted.

The alternate attack is a jumping stab that uses 24 stamina. It deals 3x damage, has a tighter angle than the primary chain, and is useful as a burst opener or for punishing enemies during openings. Because knife attacks gain strong sneak damage, Abyssal razor is also excellent for ambushes: attacks against unaware enemies deal 6x damage.

In practice, Abyssal razor rewards aggressive positioning and timing. It works best when you can stay close, chain the combo, and take advantage of sneak attacks or parries. Since it requires chitin rather than metal, it is also a valuable weapon for players who want strong damage without relying on ore mining.
