Ash Fang

Risen again from the ashes, this bow holds unyielding strength.
Overview
Ash Fang is a bow that uses arrows as ammunition. Like other ranged weapons of its type, it benefits from charging the shot: holding the attack button increases accuracy, damage, and arrow velocity. Its shots follow a ballistic arc, so long-range targets must be aimed at slightly above to compensate for drop.
Ash Fang has no alternate attack. Instead, pressing the block button cancels the draw, which makes it easy to abort a shot without firing. Against enemies that have not detected the player, it deals 3x damage, making it especially effective for opening ambushes and picking off isolated targets before a fight turns into melee.
Its base combat values are strong and improve further with upgrades. At quality 1 through 4, Pierce rises from 82 to 94, Spirit rises from 0 to 15, and Durability rises from 100 to 250.
- Quality 1: 82 Pierce, 0 Spirit, 100 Durability; costs 10
Ashwood, 16
Charred Bone, 5
Flametal, 5
Bonemaw Tooth
- Quality 2: 86 Pierce, 5 Spirit, 150 Durability; costs 5 Ashwood, 10 Charred bone, 5 Flametal, 5
Bonemaw tooth
- Quality 3: 90 Pierce, 10 Spirit, 200 Durability; costs 10 Ashwood, 20 Charred bone, 10 Flametal, 10 Bonemaw tooth
- Quality 4: 94 Pierce, 15 Spirit, 250 Durability; costs 15 Ashwood, 30 Charred bone, 15 Flametal, 15 Bonemaw tooth
The total cost to fully upgrade Ash Fang to quality 4 is 40 Ashwood, 76 Charred bone, 35 Flametal, and 35 Bonemaw tooth. However, only quality 3 is currently obtainable, so the practical maximum upgrade cost is 25 Ashwood, 46 Charred bone, 20 Flametal, and 20 Bonemaw tooth.
Ash Fang rewards careful positioning and deliberate shot timing. It is most efficient when used from stealth or from a safe distance where the player can line up fully charged shots, exploit the stealth damage bonus, and maintain pressure without committing to close combat.
