Spinesnap

Using this bow is backbreaking work but so worth it.
Overview
Spinesnap is a ranged weapon that uses arrows as ammunition. Like other bows, it rewards holding the attack button to draw the string, which increases accuracy, damage, and arrow speed. Its shots follow a ballistic arc, so distant targets should be aimed slightly above to compensate for drop.
Spinesnap has no alternate attack. Instead, pressing the block button cancels the draw. It also deals 3x damage to enemies that have not noticed the player, making it especially strong for opening shots and ambushes.
The weapon’s limbs emit a faint crimson glow at all times. The light is very dim compared to a proper light source, but it can still provide a small amount of illumination in dark areas. The glow also makes the holder slightly easier to spot while sneaking, increasing visibility by about 10%.
Its base and upgrade stats are:
- Quality 1: 72 Pierce, 5 Spirit, 100 Durability
- Quality 2: 76 Pierce, 10 Spirit, 150 Durability
- Quality 3: 80 Pierce, 15 Spirit, 200 Durability
- Quality 4: 84 Pierce, 20 Spirit, 250 Durability
Crafting costs are:
- Quality 1: 10
Finewood, 40
Bone Fragments, 10
Refined Eitr
- Quality 2: 5 Finewood, 20 Bone fragments
- Quality 3: 10 Finewood, 40 Bone fragments
- Quality 4: 15 Finewood, 60 Bone fragments
Because its damage is split between pierce and spirit, Spinesnap is effective against a wide range of enemies, and the spirit component gives it added value against targets vulnerable to that damage type. Its ambush bonus makes it a strong choice for hunting, opening fights, and dealing heavy opening damage before enemies react. The low-level glow is a minor tradeoff: useful for visibility in the dark, but noticeable enough that it can slightly reduce stealth effectiveness.
