Overview

Poison arrow is a bow ammunition type in Valheim that combines pierce damage with poison damage. Like other arrows, it is consumed on use and is crafted in batches of 20. It can also be found as random loot in chests, including chests inside Sunken Crypts in the Swamp biome.

Crafting Poison arrow requires a level 3 Workbench and the following materials:

Its damage profile is centered on 26 pierce damage and 52 poison damage, with 26 stagger damage and 10 knockback, and it weighs 0.1. The poison effect stacks with the poison damage from Draugr fang, making it useful for increasing damage over time when combined with that bow. Because the arrow’s main advantage is its poison component, it is less effective against enemies that are immune to poison; in those situations, arrows that rely more heavily on raw pierce damage can be the better choice.

Poison arrow is especially valuable once the player has access to Obsidian and Ooze, since both materials come from mid- to late-game biomes. Obsidian is found in the Mountain biome, while Ooze is obtained in the Swamp by killing Blobs and Oozers. This means the arrow is generally a better option for players who are already exploring harsher biomes and want a ranged weapon that remains effective against tougher targets.

  • Best used against enemies that are not poison-immune, since the poison damage is a major part of its total output.
  • Can be paired effectively with Draugr fang because the poison damage stacks.
  • Found occasionally in chest loot, so it may appear before the player can craft it.
  • Requires a level 3 Workbench, making it unavailable until some basic base progression has been completed.
