Overview

Flint is a resource found in the Meadows, usually along the shoreline in shallow water. It appears at the edge of lakes, rivers, ponds, and other bodies of water, making coastlines and riverbanks the best places to search early in the game. When collected, it respawns in the same spot after four real-world hours, or eight in-game days.

Because Flint is available so early, it is one of the first materials used to upgrade both combat and crafting infrastructure. It is required for several basic weapons and tools, as well as the first workshop upgrades.

A good starting routine is to gather Flint while exploring the coastline for food and core building materials. Since it is concentrated at water’s edge, a single pass along a shore often yields enough for a starter set of weapons and the Chopping block. Flinthead arrows are also a useful early ranged option, especially since they are cheap and produced in large stacks.
