Molten core is a crafting material found in the Ashlands. It appears inside Putrid Holes and on the ground within Charred Fortresses, and it can also drop from Charred Chests in those fortresses. Mysterious Locations spawn with 4 Molten cores, making them a reliable source when one is found.

This item is primarily used in building recipes. One listed use is the Portal Stone, which requires 2 Molten cores along with 10 Greydwarf eyes and 30 Stone. Because it is tied to Ashlands structures, Molten core is usually obtained by exploring dangerous late-game areas rather than by standard resource gathering.
