Overview

The Forge toolrack is a Forge upgrade in Valheim. When placed within 2 meters of a Forge, it increases that station’s upgrade level and contributes to the Forge’s maximum level of 7. Like other workbench-style upgrades, it must be built in a valid indoor area and under a roof.

It is unlocked once Iron has been obtained. To place it, you need a nearby Workbench and must build it with the Hammer from the Crafting menu. Because it is an upgrade rather than a standalone crafting station, its main purpose is to extend the Forge’s capabilities and help support higher-tier weapon and equipment production.

A few practical points:

  • It only functions as a Forge upgrade when it is close enough to the Forge, within 2 meters.
  • It is best placed as part of a compact forge workshop so that the Forge and all of its upgrades stay within range.
  • Since it requires Iron to unlock, it is normally obtained after the player reaches the swamp and begins working with iron-tier progression.
  • Like other crafting-station structures, it should be kept indoors and protected from weather.

The Forge toolrack is one of the special structures used to improve crafting stations, making it an important part of setting up an efficient mid- to late-game base. By extending the Forge’s upgrade level, it helps support better equipment production and keeps the station useful as crafting demands grow.
