Overview

The Obliterator is a buildable structure used to destroy unwanted items and convert them into coal. It can be placed on any flat surface, and it does not take rain damage. To use it, players place items inside the storage compartment and then pull the lever on the side.

When activated, the Obliterator summons its own lightning strike, so no thunderstorm is required. The strike deals 400 Lightning damage, plus 10 additional Lightning damage in a 2.42-meter radius around the structure. Because of this, it should not be placed near other buildings or anything that could be damaged by the blast. The damage radius is quite small, but it is still close enough to matter for nearby structures.

The output is coal, and the conversion rate depends on the type of item inserted:

  • 1 coal for each trophy, including boss trophies, except trophies from Ashlands creatures, Hildir minibosses, Bear, Vile, and Ghost
  • 1 coal for 5 Wood, Corewood, Finewood, Ancient Bark, or Yggdrasil Wood
  • 1 coal for 20 arrows, except Charred arrows
  • 1 coal for 20 bolts, except Iron bolts and Charred bolts
  • 1 coal for 10 of other items, including coal itself

Because wood and meat can already be turned into coal at a 1:1 rate using a Charcoal Kiln or cooking station, using the Obliterator for those materials is inefficient. It is mainly useful as a disposal method for excess trophies, ammunition, and miscellaneous items the player no longer wants.

A few interaction details are worth noting. If the Obliterator is empty, it shows a frown message and does not activate. If it contains items but produces no coal, it shows an obliterated message. When it succeeds, it shows a gift message. The game flavor frames the result as Odin rewarding the player for the offering.

  • The Obliterator can be placed on a flat surface and does not need shelter.
  • It generates its own lightning and does not require a storm.
  • It is best kept away from buildings due to the damage burst on activation.
  • It is especially useful for clearing out excess trophies and unwanted ammunition.
