Overview

Copper is a refined metal resource used in a wide range of early- and mid-game crafting and construction. It is obtained primarily by smelting Copper Ore in a Smelter, and it can also be recovered by destroying or recycling Dvergr Metal Wall in Dvergr structures in the Mistlands.

Copper is one of the core metals that unlocks a large portion of black forest progression and later remains relevant for several advanced workbench and building recipes. It is used to make Bronze, Copper Knife, Forge, Forge Cooler, Sconce, and other crafted stations or furnishings. In the Plains and Mistlands, it also appears in higher-tier recipes such as Pots and Pans, Black Forge Cooler, Vice, and several Dvergr and black marble pieces. In Ashlands, it is part of the recipe for Shield Generator.

Because Copper is a metal, it cannot be teleported normally without a Portal Stone, as of the Ashlands update. This makes transport logistics important when mining or salvaging large amounts of it. When gathering Copper from Mistlands structures, players can obtain it by breaking Dvergr metal wall pieces, making abandoned or hostile Dvergr builds a useful secondary source.

Copper is directly involved in the following recipes and structures:

Copper is smelted from Copper ore in a Smelter, using Coal as fuel. It is also listed as a metal resource that can be crafted into Bronze by combining it with Tin in a Forge, which makes it the key bridge between basic ore processing and the first major metal tier in the game.

In practical terms, Copper is worth stockpiling rather than spending immediately. Its use spans stations, weapons, lighting, furniture, and high-end build pieces, so players often need far more of it than they first expect. Since Copper cannot be sent through portals normally, it is often best moved by cart, boat, or other physical transport after mining or dismantling.
