Overview
Egg is a placeable item used both for raising chickens and for cooking. It becomes available late in the game and can be obtained by purchasing it from Haldor after defeating

To hatch an Egg, drop it from your inventory near a fire or other heat source and make sure it is under a roof. The egg must be placed individually rather than in a stack. When you hover over it, the game shows whether it is too cold to hatch, although that status text can take several seconds to update. After about 30 minutes, the egg hatches into a Chicken, which later grows into a Hen.

- Use eggs one at a time when hatching; stacked eggs will not hatch.
- Keep the egg warm and sheltered, or it will remain too cold to hatch.
- Two Hens placed close together, kept fed, and protected can produce eggs naturally.
- Once the chicken matures into a Hen, the breeding loop can provide both more eggs and chicken meat.
- If you are short on food, cooking eggs is possible, but hatching them is usually the better long-term use.
