Jotun Puffs

Swollen with magic, these golden orbs bubble from the ground where the Jotun fell.
Overview
Jotun puffs are a

They can only be grown in cultivated soil within the Mistlands, making that biome the sole place where they will mature. One planted Jotun puffs yields three more when fully grown. Their growth cycle takes about three in-game days, so a cultivated patch can provide a steady supply once established.
Jotun puffs can be eaten raw, but they are not a strong standalone food compared with other options at their stage of progression. Their real value comes from cooking and brewing, where they serve as a recurring ingredient in a range of Mistlands-era recipes. Because they are easy to replant and multiply, it is worth reserving part of each harvest for further cultivation rather than consuming the whole crop.
They are used in the following recipes:
Mead Base: Medium Stamina: Jotun puffs,
Sap, and Nordic berries
- Mead Base: Minor Eitr: Jotun puffs, Sap,
Honey, and
Magecap
Honey Glazed Chicken: Jotun puffs,
Chicken Meat, and Honey
Misthare Supreme: Jotun puffs,
Hare Meat, and
Carrot
Salad: Jotun puffs,
Onion, and Nordic berries
Mushroom Omelette: Jotun puffs and
Egg
Scorching Medley: Jotun puffs, Onion, and
Fiddlehead
In practical terms, Jotun puffs are one of the Mistlands ingredients that players will want to farm early and keep in circulation, since several important foods and meads depend on them. A small cultivated plot can be enough to support both cooking and brewing, especially once the crop has been expanded through repeated harvesting and replanting.
The name comes from a puffball-like mushroom in real life, though the in-game version appears oversized and more abstract in shape.
