Tar

A sticky lump of tar.
Overview
Tar is a resource obtained in the
Tar is primarily a drop from Growths, the bouncing blobs that guard tar pits. It can also be gathered straight from the pits themselves. A practical method is to dig beside a large pool and break through the drainage route so the liquid tar can flow out, leaving behind lumps and other trapped materials on the surface. If the pit is on higher ground, digging a trench toward lower terrain achieves the same result.
Tar is used in a wide range of building pieces, especially the dark wood and shingle-style sets. It is also required for several furniture items. Its crafting uses make it an important Plains resource for players who want stronger decorative pieces and better-looking structures.

Because tar is tied to tar pits, it is most efficiently gathered once a player can safely clear or bypass the local Growths. The pits themselves are often the best source, since draining them can yield a large amount at once. For builders, tar is especially valuable because many of its recipes are concentrated in the same visual theme, making it easy to plan large construction projects around a single resource.
