Overview

The Medium Rover is a medium vehicle used for personal transport, cargo hauling, and flexible field operations. It has a large top attachment slot that can hold two medium items or four small items, plus front and rear tier-2 attachment slots that can carry small or medium items. Because of this layout, it is commonly used as a mobile utility platform rather than just a seat for driving.

To drive a Medium Rover, a Rover Seat is required, and it can be placed on either the front or the rear. The rover can also operate as part of a train, linking with other rovers to form longer transport chains. As with other vehicle trains, size and load matter: the more vehicles and cargo a train carries, the slower it becomes, to the point where it may struggle on small inclines or stop moving entirely. Smaller trains of two to four cars are generally the safest.

The Medium Rover consumes power while moving forward or backward at 0.5U/s. Without an external power source or batteries, its built-in 8 units of power are exhausted in 16 seconds of continuous driving. Its side power indicator is not proportionally representative of small or medium batteries, and it only contains 25% of the power storage of a Small Battery. A Small Battery can significantly extend driving time, increasing a Medium Rover’s continuous operation by up to 64 seconds.

Useful attachments and interactions include:

  • A Medium Storage provides more room for small items and is especially effective when combined with Large Storage to maximize space efficiency.
  • Each Large Storage doubles the number of top attachment points available on the rover.
  • A Medium Battery increases power capacity by 256 units, adding 512 seconds of additional continuous driving time.
  • A Winch lets the rover tow other vehicles and large objects from farther away.
  • A Crane, used with a Drill Head, is intended for bulk resource gathering.
  • Drill Heads attach directly to the front of the rover and allow tunnel digging while driving, activated through the context controls.

The Medium Rover can also provide unlimited oxygen and has attachment slots for supplies, making it useful as general-purpose storage and as a temporary field camp while exploring. Its performance is affected by its accessories, added equipment, and how heavily loaded it is, since vehicle weight determines how quickly it can move and how well it can function in a train.
