Ice-E Fan

Overview

The Ice-E Fan is a manually operated cooling device that a Duplicant can use to temporarily lower temperatures in a small, localized area. It functions as a short-term, on-demand solution for cooling spots that require immediate attention rather than a continuous or large-scale climate control system. Operation requires a Duplicant to interact with the fan; it does not run automatically without direct work.

Because the Ice-E Fan provides only temporary and localized cooling, it is best treated as a reactive tool for specific problems rather than a primary method of base temperature management. Use it when a brief period of cooling will prevent damage or adverse effects in a confined space. It is especially useful in situations where installing permanent refrigeration or running large passive cooling systems would be impractical or slower to implement.

  • A Duplicant must be assigned to operate the Ice-E Fan for it to produce cooling. It will not cool unattended areas.
  • The cooling effect covers a relatively small area around the fan and lasts only while the device is actively operated; plan placement so the fan targets the exact hot spot.
  • Because the fan is temporary by nature, consider it for emergency or intermittent needs rather than continuous environmental control.
  • The Ice-E Fan complements more permanent cooling infrastructure: use it to bridge gaps, deal with sudden temperature spikes, or protect sensitive machinery or organisms until a long-term solution is in place.
  • Prioritize quick access by routing paths or work orders so a Duplicant can reach and operate the fan promptly when required.

The Ice-E Fan occupies a niche role: it gives players a simple, manual way to apply cooling precisely where and when it is needed without committing to large-scale systems. Its effectiveness depends entirely on timely Duplicant operation and correct placement relative to the area you intend to cool.
