Priority Liquid Flow

Overview

Priority Liquid Flow is the flow-priority mechanism applied to liquid piping networks that causes designated buildings to be supplied before other connected buildings. When multiple buildings share the same liquid system, Priority Liquid Flow ensures that the most important consumers receive liquid first, preventing less-critical equipment from depleting the shared supply ahead of higher-priority targets.

This behavior is the liquid-network counterpart of the same priority-flow concept used elsewhere in the game; priority flows generally guarantee that important structures are filled first when they are part of a system with other structures. Use Priority Liquid Flow on networks where several consumers compete for the same liquid source to enforce supply ordering and reduce interruptions to critical processes.

  • Place priority-enabled plumbing components or configure flow-priority settings on the buildings that must be kept supplied so they take precedence over other consumers in the same circuit.
  • Priority behavior applies only within the boundaries of a connected system; isolated loops or separately supplied branches remain unaffected.
  • Treat priority flow as a tool to stabilize production lines, medical or life-support equipment, and other systems where temporary shortages would cause larger failures elsewhere.
  • Priority concepts exist for both liquid and gas networks; the gas-specific variant is referred to in some locales as Priority Gas Flow.
