Overview

Sculpting Block is a decorative building used by Duplicants with the appropriate creative skills to produce sculptural art pieces. It is part of the game’s art system and serves as the base object from which sculpted works are created, making it a useful source of early- and mid-game Decor for bases that want to improve morale without relying solely on furniture or plants.

The finished sculpture’s quality depends on the result of the creation process. Sculptures can come out as abstract, normal, or genius quality. Abstract works provide +5 base Decor. Normal works provide +10 base Decor and require a Duplicant with Aesthetic Design. Genius works provide +15 base Decor and require a Duplicant with Masterworks; a successful creation also triggers the celebratory animation. Any sculpture that is not one of the specific lower-quality types belongs to the genius tier.

Material choice affects the final Decor value as well. Building Sculpting Block from Sandstone gives an extra +10% total Decor bonus, while building it from Granite or Ceramic gives an extra +20% total Decor bonus. Because of this, higher-quality construction materials are worth using when the goal is to maximize room Decor rather than simply unlock the art system.

Sculpting Block is commonly paired with other specialized sculpting variants such as Large Sculpting Block, Ice Block, Marble Block, and Metal Block, which provide different options for presentation and base styling. In practice, the building is most valuable when placed in a room that can protect the finished work and allow Duplicants to benefit from its Decor range.

  • Use better construction materials if you want the sculpture itself to contribute more Decor.
  • Match the quality tier to the artist’s skill level; low-skill Duplicants can still produce art, but higher tiers require specific creative skills.
  • Genius sculptures are the best choice when the goal is maximum Decor from a single piece.
  • Sculpting Block is most effective when combined with a properly arranged room, since its value comes from the finished artwork rather than the block alone.
