Tofu

Tofu is a basic food item produced from Nosh Beans and water in the Microbe Musher. It serves as an early processed ingredient that can be eaten directly or turned into a stronger meal once a Gas Range is available.

In the Microbe Musher, each batch of Tofu requires 6 Nosh Beans and 50 kg of water. Because the machine transfers germs from the inputs into the output, using water contaminated with Food Poisoning germs can result in Tofu that may give a Duplicant Food Poisoning when eaten. This makes water quality important if the colony is relying on Tofu as a staple food.

Tofu can also be cooked in the Gas Range into Spicy Tofu, giving it a later-game culinary use beyond its base form. As with other processed foods, it fits into the broader food chain as a flexible ingredient: it starts as a simple Musher product and can later be upgraded into a better meal when more advanced cooking infrastructure is built.
