Auto-Petter

The Auto-Petter is a farm item used to care for barn and coop animals automatically. When placed in a building with animals, it prevents them from losing Friendship or Mood from being unfriendly due to lack of petting, and it gives them a Mood boost comparable to manually petting them.

Its petting effect is not a full replacement for manual interaction. Animals only gain 8 Friendship points from the Auto-Petter alone, which is a little more than half of the normal amount. If an animal is both auto-petted and manually petted on the same day, it gains 15 Friendship points, which is the same as normal petting. Mood gains from the Auto-Petter stack with manual petting, so using it does not interfere with regular care.

The Mood gain from an Auto-Petter is not affected by the Coopmaster or Shepherd professions. This makes it a useful convenience item for maintaining large barns and coops, especially when daily petting is difficult to keep up with.
