Overview

Mayonnaise is an Artisan Good made using the Mayonnaise Machine, which takes 3 hours to process an egg into a jar of mayonnaise. It is one of the standard egg-based products in Stardew Valley and comes in several quality outcomes depending on the type of egg used.

Normal-sized White and Brown Eggs produce regular-quality Mayonnaise, while large White and Brown Eggs produce gold-quality Mayonnaise. The quality of the egg itself does not affect the result, only whether the egg is normal-sized or large. Ostrich Eggs are handled differently: they produce 10 jars of Mayonnaise at once, and the mayonnaise keeps the same quality as the egg. This makes Ostrich Eggs the only way to obtain silver-quality or iridium-quality Mayonnaise. Golden Eggs produce 3 jars of gold-quality Mayonnaise at once, regardless of the egg quality.

Mayonnaise also has a few practical uses beyond selling or gifting it away. It can be requested in Fish Pond quests by Blobfish, Catfish, or Spook Fish, and it is used in tailoring with the Sewing Machine. When placed in the dye slot, it acts as a white dye item for dyeable clothing.

A few small details are worth keeping in mind:

  • Large eggs are more valuable to process than normal eggs because they produce gold-quality mayonnaise.
  • Ostrich Eggs are especially efficient when you want high-quality mayonnaise, since they can produce multiple jars at once and preserve egg quality.
  • Golden Eggs always produce gold-quality mayonnaise, making them reliable but not scalable in the same way as Ostrich Eggs.
  • Consuming mayonnaise near a villager causes them to comment on it.
