Fish Feeder
Overview
The Fish Feeder is a building used to deliver food to aquatic critters. It is intended to be constructed directly above a body of water so that the feeder dispenses food into the water and the fish inside can eat from it. Functionally this device serves the same role as other feeders in the game family of Critter Feeders but is specifically sited over water to service fish and other aquatic critters.
Place the Fish Feeder so its footprint sits above an area of liquid containing fish; the feeder must be above water for its food to reach the fish. Do not expect it to feed critters outside of the water below it—its effect is localized to the water column beneath the building. Because the unit is designed for aquatic use, plan aquaculture or fishing habitats with feeders positioned over ponds, pools, or enclosed water reservoirs to maintain critter populations.
- Positioning: build the feeder directly above the water surface where fish congregate or are penned. If the water level fluctuates, ensure the feeder remains over liquid; feeders placed above empty cells will not feed fish.
- Coverage: the feeder supplies food to fish located in the water under it. For larger or multiple pools, use multiple Fish Feeders or place them to cover the main areas where fish spend time.
- Integration: incorporate the Fish Feeder into aquaculture setups, such as enclosed basins or natural ponds, to automate feeding and support breeding or harvesting operations.
- Maintenance: keep an eye on the feeder’s supply so it continues to dispense food into the water. Refill the feeder as needed to avoid underfeeding aquatic critters.
- Placement strategy: placing feeders near entrances, outflows, or gathering points in a pool increases the likelihood that fish will encounter and consume dispensed food. For confined aquatic habitats, center feeders to evenly distribute feeding opportunities.
The Fish Feeder is a straightforward solution for sustained feeding of water-dwelling critters. Its simple requirement—constructing it above a body of water—makes it easy to integrate into any colony plan that includes aquaculture or fish husbandry.
