Meteor Blaster

Overview

Meteor Blaster is a building associated with the destruction of incoming meteors; its purpose is to reduce meteors to fragments so that any contained resources can be collected. In the game, some meteors, when destroyed or blown to smithereens, release harvestable resources. This behavior is consistent across language variants: multiple localized descriptions note that certain meteors leave gatherable materials when they are shattered.

Using a Meteor Blaster focuses on turning meteor impacts from a hazard into a resource opportunity. Rather than allowing a meteor to strike intact and embed itself or cause damage, the Meteor Blaster causes the meteor to fragment, after which the fragments may drop materials that duplicants can harvest. Because not all meteors yield collectable items, players should treat meteor harvesting as an intermittent bonus rather than a guaranteed resource source.

  • Position Meteor Blaster(s) to intercept meteor trajectories before they reach critical infrastructure or living areas; fragmenting meteors prevents damage while enabling resource collection.
  • After a meteor is blown to pieces, check the impact site for any leftover materials and schedule duplicants to sweep or mine the fragments as appropriate.
  • Plan for safety and logistics: fragmentation can scatter debris over an area, so clear access paths and storage to recover materials efficiently.
  • Do not rely on meteor fragments as a steady supply; use them to supplement other resource chains when they appear.

The Meteor Blaster therefore converts an environmental threat into occasional resource gain by ensuring that meteors that would otherwise strike intact are instead shattered and can leave behind collectable resources.
