Mead

Mead is an artisan good made by placing Honey in a Keg and waiting 10 in-game hours. It is a drink item with an edibility value of 30 and a base sell price of 300g. Unlike Wine and Juice, its value does not depend on the type of honey used, so the honey source has no effect on the finished product’s price.

Mead can be obtained in several ways besides crafting. It is sold at the Ginger Island Resort, and Pam sells it at the Desert Festival for Calico Eggs. It can also be received for free once per night from the bar in the Pirate Cove by speaking to the bartender while wearing the Pirate Hat, Deluxe Pirate Hat, Eye Patch, or Parrot Egg trinket.

When consumed, Mead grants the Tipsy buff for 30 seconds, which decreases Speed by 1. Because its drink buff is modest and its sell price is fixed, Mead is generally more useful as an early artisan product, a tailoring ingredient, or an aging target than as a high-profit beverage. In fact, several kinds of Flower Honey sell for more than Mead, so turning certain honey into Mead can reduce the value of the original produce.

Mead can be aged in a Cask to improve its quality over time. Like other cask-aged goods, it can be removed early from the cask at any stage by striking the cask with an Axe, Hoe, or Pickaxe.

• Normal quality Mead can be aged to silver quality in 7 days.
• Silver quality Mead can be aged to gold quality after another 7 days, for 14 days total.
• Gold quality Mead can be aged to iridium quality after another 14 days, for 28 days total.
• Iridium quality Mead sells for double the base price.

Mead also has a small role in tailoring and dyeing. It can be placed in the Sewing Machine spool to create the Black Leather Jacket, and it can be used as a yellow dye in the dye pots at Emily and Haley’s house on 2 Willow Lane.
