Liquid Cargo Tank
Overview
Liquid Cargo Tank is a building used to receive and hold resources acquired during space missions. When duplicants return from a mission, they will deposit any resources they find into cargo storage units; in gameplay terms, duplicants fill Cargo Bay units with any resources they recover while on space missions. This behavior is automatic and applies to the cargo storage space provided by the player's ship infrastructure.
Because duplicants will stow all discovered resources into cargo bays, a Liquid Cargo Tank functions as a designated receptacle for mission loot and acts as a bridge between space exploration and colony supply lines. Any resource gathered during a mission is eligible to be placed into the cargo storage provided by the ship, so mission returns reliably seed the colony with whatever materials were collected.
Practical notes and considerations:
- Position cargo storage so duplicants can access it immediately after missions end; placing the Liquid Cargo Tank near the shuttle or the deboarding point minimizes hauling interruptions.
- Treat cargo bays as the initial deposit point for mission materials; from there, items can be routed, siphoned, or transferred into the colony’s regular storage systems depending on player logistics.
- Since duplicants place all discovered resources into cargo storage, expect a mix of items and plan downstream sorting or processing accordingly.
- Incorporate pathways and sufficient reachability for haulers or automated systems that will move newly delivered resources from the cargo area into longer-term storage or processing facilities.
- Because space mission returns can contain any resource type, design adjacent storage to handle liquids, gases, and solid materials as appropriate, or include transfer mechanisms that move materials from the cargo bay to specialized containers.
This automatic filling behavior simplifies retrieving mission spoils but requires planning to integrate returned goods into the colony’s supply chain efficiently. By treating the Liquid Cargo Tank as the standard post-mission deposit point and arranging nearby storage and processing, players ensure that expedition returns are rapidly put to productive use.
