Water Sieve
Overview
The Water Sieve is a liquid processing building that does not disinfect contaminated input. Any germs present in the water fed into it are carried through into both the produced water and the waste it generates, so it should not be used as a sanitation step.
Because it preserves germs instead of removing them, the Water Sieve is only a cleaning tool in the sense of handling water quality, not water safety. If the input is germy, both outputs remain germy as well. This means it is best treated as part of a filtration chain for liquid management, with separate sterilization or quarantine measures needed whenever the source water may be contaminated.
- The building does not kill germs.
- Germs in the input are transferred to the water output.
- Germs in the input are also transferred to the waste output.
- It therefore does not make polluted or contaminated water safe on its own.
When planning a liquid system around the Water Sieve, assume that any contamination entering the machine will continue through the rest of the loop. If the goal is simply to reclaim or route water, it is useful; if the goal is to produce germ-free water, another method is required.
