Liquid Rocket Port Loader

Overview

The Liquid Rocket Port Loader is a building used to transfer liquid resources between a colony and a Rocket while the Rocket is docked. It provides the interface at a rocket landing site that allows duplicants or automation to move liquids into or out of a Rocket's tanks, enabling refueling, coolant transfer, or the stocking of liquid payloads before launch. The building is part of the Rocket infrastructure and functions only in the context of a landed Rocket at a landing pad or port.

Rockets must be landed to load or unload resources; loading operations cannot occur while a Rocket is in flight. This requirement applies to all resource transfer operations conducted through rocket ports, including liquid transfers managed by the Liquid Rocket Port Loader. Plan transfers to occur after the Rocket completes its descent and comes to rest on its landing pad.

  • Place Liquid Rocket Port Loaders at or adjacent to the Rocket landing area so they align with the Rocket’s liquid ports when it is landed. Proper placement ensures direct access for transfers.
  • Schedule fueling, coolant fills, or liquid payload loading to occur only while the Rocket is landed; monitor mission timing so that transfers finish before launch windows.
  • When using duplicants to handle transfers, ensure paths to the landing site remain unobstructed and that duplicants have access to the needed liquid sources or storage.
  • Consider the colony’s liquid piping and storage layout so that desirable liquids are available at the landing site when the Rocket arrives; pre-positioning liquids reduces turnaround time.
  • Remember that loaders do not bypass the fundamental requirement that Rockets must be landed to accept resources; any automation or manual transfer routine must respect that constraint.

Use the Liquid Rocket Port Loader as the colony’s interface for preparing Rockets with liquid supplies and payloads during turnaround between missions. Its effectiveness depends on coordinated placement, timing, and ensuring liquids are staged and accessible when the Rocket is on the ground.
