Solid Methane is a space resource found on the starmap. In the base game, it can be obtained from Oil Asteroids and Ice Giants. In the DLC, it can also be obtained from Exploding Ice Giants, Exploding Gas Giants, and the Oily Asteroid Belt.
Its regeneration rate differs by source: 27–81 kg/cycle, 15–40 kg/cycle, or 17–56.5 kg/cycle. This makes it a renewable space resource rather than a finite one, but its availability depends on which celestial bodies are present in the current system.
As of U46-552078, Solid Methane is classified as a consumable ore even though it has no meaningful consumable use. A liquefiable material classification would better match its behavior.
