Combat Quarterly is a skill book that can be obtained from several sources, including the Bookseller, the Traveling Cart, Fishing Treasure Chests, the Prize Machine, Mystery Boxes and Golden Mystery Boxes, Iridium Golems, other monsters, crates and barrels in the Mines, Skull Cavern, or Volcano Dungeon, tree-related sources, and Artifact Spots. Reading it grants 250 Combat XP, making it a straightforward way to advance Combat level without fighting.

The book has a few additional uses once obtained. It is not used in any bundles or quests, but it can be traded to the Bookseller for 1 Monster Musk. It also has a dye use: it can serve as a red dye at Emily and Haley's house, and it can be used as red dye in the Sewing Machine with a dyeable clothing item.

In practical terms, Combat Quarterly is mainly valuable for the experience it grants and for players who want an alternate way to get Monster Musk. Since it can appear from many different content sources, it may turn up naturally while playing rather than requiring a focused search.
