Cinder Shard

Cinder Shard is a late-game resource found in the Volcano Dungeon on Ginger Island. It is primarily associated with the Forge on the tenth floor, where it becomes one of the most important materials for improving equipment. Beyond forging, it also has a handful of island-specific uses in trading, tailoring, dyeing, and a Fish Pond quest.

In the Forge, Cinder Shards are used to combine rings, enchant tools, and forge melee weapons with gemstones. The standard cost is 20 Cinder Shards for combining two rings, applying a random enchantment to a tool or weapon, or adding a Galaxy Soul to a Galaxy weapon. Tool forging costs 10 Cinder Shards for the first upgrade, 15 for the second, and 20 for the third. Because these costs add up quickly, it is worth stockpiling Cinder Shards before committing to multiple upgrades.

Cinder Shards can also be traded for special goods and recipes rather than purchased with gold. They are accepted by the Island Trader and the Dwarf shop in the Volcano Dungeon. Notable trade options include Cinderclown Shoes, Jungle Torch, Wild Double Bed, and the Deluxe Retaining Soil Recipe. This makes Cinder Shards a flexible island currency, especially for players who spend a lot of time farming the Volcano Dungeon or exploring Ginger Island.

They have a few other uses outside of forging and trading:

• In tailoring, Cinder Shards are used on the Sewing Machine spool to create a clothing item.
• They can be used in dyeing as an orange dye at the dye pots in Emily and Haley’s house.
• Stingray can request 7 Cinder Shards in a Fish Pond quest to raise the pond’s capacity from 3 to 5.
• Cinder Shard is not used in any bundles.

Because many of its uses are tied to Ginger Island progression, Cinder Shards are most valuable once the player has access to the island and can reliably clear the Volcano Dungeon. Players aiming to maximize their forge options, complete fish pond requests, or buy island-exclusive trades should hold onto them rather than selling them off.
