Overview

Wine is an Artisan Good made by processing any fruit in a Keg. It takes 7 days to produce and the finished item’s sell price is based on the fruit used, at 3 × the fruit’s base value. Wine is one of the most important processed goods in Stardew Valley because it scales directly with the value of its input, and its appearance also changes to match the fruit used.

When consumed, Wine applies the Tipsy buff, reducing Speed by 1. Its recovery values also depend on the source fruit: for edible fruit, it restores energy equal to 1.75 × base fruit value; for inedible fruit, it restores energy equal to 25% of base fruit value and health equal to 11.25% of base fruit value. Wine with no base fruit can also exist, such as bottles obtained from the Traveling Cart, a Statue of Endless Fortune, or as certain gifts; this version is simply titled Wine and restores 50 Energy and 22 Health.

Wine can be aged in a Cask. It takes the longest of any item to age, requiring 2 seasons to reach Iridium quality. The aging stages are:

  • Normal to Silver: 14 days
  • Silver to Gold: 14 additional days
  • Gold to Iridium: 28 additional days

Iridium-quality Wine sells for double the base price of the original Wine. Normal, Silver, and Gold quality Wine can be removed early from a Cask at any time by striking the cask with an Axe, Hoe, or Pickaxe.

Wine also has several uses outside of selling and drinking. It can be requested in a Fish Pond quest by a Blobfish, which increases the pond’s capacity from 5 to 7. It is used in tailoring to create the Black Leather Jacket at the Sewing Machine, and it can be used as a purple dye in dye pots at Emily and Haley’s house. Wine is also used in bundle completion and can serve as a silver-or-better quality option for at least one bundle requirement.

A bottle of Wine may also be received as a gift at the Feast of the Winter Star.
